Good/Bad days to do a thing

 It's Tuesday! Perfect time to polish your CV but to avoid any amorous advances from your other half! Did you know there is an ideal day of the week for everything from starting a diet to giving birth? Getting on a plane or visiting the doctors are better on certain days too. Here's your weekly do's and don'ts guide - just remember to enjoy your Mirror every single day!

MONDAY Good day to...
Buy sharesInvestors have noticed share prices on Monday often continue to move in the same direction they moved on the Friday before. This makes it easier to predict price changes and make a killing.
Bad day to...
Start a diet A third of people who start a diet on Monday have given up by Tuesday evening, according to a Yahoo poll.
Eat sushi Fish markets traditionally close on Mondays, so your treat could have been sitting in a fridge since Friday.
Go for a driveThe AA's busiest period is between 8am and 10am on Monday when thousands of cars won't start. The main cause is flat batteries. Also more motorcycles are stolen on Mondays, insurers say.
Get wound upYou are more likely to die of a heart attack on Monday, the British Medical Journal said.

Get chores doneA study published by the US Society of Industrial Psychology said our rational "left" brain dominates thinking early in the week - better for routine, mundane jobs.

We have the least sex on Tuesdays, according to an NOP health survey.

Good day to...
Go on a dateFour in 10 singletons reckon Wednesday is the ideal day for a first date. If the date goes well, you get a day's breathing space - and don't have to wait long before a weekend meeting.
Ask for a pay riseIn a survey of 1,500 bosses, most revealed they were more receptive on Wednesdays. On Mondays they were too busy. By Thursday and Friday they are thinking about the weekend and more likely to turn down requests.

Be cheerfulForget Monday blues - we're unhappiest on Wednesdays. US mathematicians analysed internet blogs and found that on Mondays people are still happy from their weekend - but by Wednesday the glow has worn off.
Have sexCortical steroids which stimu-late sex hormones peak on Thursday. Sex is also best first thing in the morning when levels of testosterone in men and oestrogen in women are five times higher.

Go to hospitalYou're likely to stay in hospital 24 hours longer than patients admitted on a Sunday, says the Institute for Public Policy Research. Patients admitted on a Thursday stay an average of 6.3 days, compared with 5.3 on a Sunday.
Have  barbecueThursdays are the wettest day of the week. Saturdays are driest.

Give up smokingIf you quit fags on a Friday you can survive the weekend because the first few days are when your willpower is at its strongest.

Leave your carInsurance firm Axa says there's a 17% rise in claims for theft of cars and their contents on this day.
Make a big decisionBodyclock expert Martin Moore Ede says we're more likely to be sleep deprived at the end of the week and less able to think clearly. And while investors play safe early in the week, they're statistically more likely to take risks today.

Have a baby 
Tuesday is statistically the most popular day to have babies but Saturdays are best if you want your child to grow up to be successful. Of 21 Prime Ministers since 1900, six were born on a Saturday.

Drink too muchUnsurprisingly this is the day you are most likely to suffer from alcohol poisoning. There is an increase of more than two-thirds of admissions to hospital due to booze abuse compared to the daily average.

Good day to...
Send emailsA report from eMarketer showed that "open" and "click" rates for emails sent on Sundays were highest, with just over 30% of recipi-ents reading their messages. The worst day was on Wednesday, which had an open rate of just 23%.
ShoppingA survey showed the availa-bility of a wide range of goods was at its highest - 98% - on Sundays.
