Potato Juice cure for Indigestion

Have an upset stomach? Drinking potato juice every day can ease indigestion, a new study has found.

Almost 8 out of 10 participants who had suffered from chronic indigestion benefited after a week of treatment. 1 in 5 was free of symptoms. Freshly pressed potato juice is a traditional treatment for stomach ailments in some parts of Europe.

In research carried out by 4 universities in Germany and Australia, 40 adults - whose symptoms had lasted more than 12 weeks - drank 100 ml of the juice in the morning (half an hour before breakfast) and the same again before going to bed.

Two-thirds of the patients experienced at least some improvement, about half benefited considerably and complete relief was seen in 20%.

It is thought that compounds found in potatoes - called alkaloids - have an antacid effect. However, never use the juice of immature potatoes or potatoes with black dots since such potatoes can contain certain toxic substances.

More than just starch!

Potato juice can also help in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, rheumatism, lumbago, and so on. In terms of such treatment, potato juice can be taken with various herbal teas, such as sage or nettle teas. Also, arthritis pains can be very effectively relieved by using a tea made of clean potato peels.

Raw potato juice is effective for constant migraines and constipation.

Finally, taken regularly on rising in the morning (or 30-20 minutes before breakfast), 100-150 g of raw potato juice can be used as a very powerful liver cleanser.

Some patients have reported that drinking raw potato juice assisted in relieving certain skin problems, such as eczema, skin blemishes, dry and itchy skin, and so on.
